Spend 6 days and 5 nights in paradise with the legendary Evelyn Magyari and her equally talented partner Derrick Lopez!

Each day will begin with an energizing and meditative yoga session led by Lena Love.

Afternoon training sessions will be led by Derrick and Evelyn. Evening socials will occur at the retreat house destination.

About Evelyn:
Evelyn is one of the most sought-after Brazilian Zouk artists and dance instructors in the world.
Evelyn is born in Transylvania (Romania), grew up in the Netherlands and currently living in a beautiful town called Valley Springs in California USA.

In 2006 she was confronted with her destiny "Brazilian Zouk", where she fell in love with the dance which has been her passion ever since. Over the years, while studying and working abroad within her professional dance career, Evelyn has performed and taught in several countries all over the world. Evelyn partnered with many prolific Zouk leaders like Pasty, Adilio Porto, Mafie Zouker, Xandy Liberato and many more at international congresses.

According to Evelyn, dancing Zouk is, "Surrendering in the moment with a balanced mental and physical state, combining creativity through inner-beauty, while existing in harmony with the music”.

Evelyn embodies a unique approach to dance - an art of moving, expressing and interpreting the music internally, and from your heart. Her talents inspire dancers around the world to express their dance from their souls coming from an unconditional love for the ‘self’ and for others.

About Derrick
Derrick is born in Hawaii.
Early 90’s, Derrick moved to California where he first got into break dancing.

He learned about power moves, which is a form of West Coast B-Boy gymnastics - break dancing.
This way of dancing focused on spinning (windmills, air-flairs, halos), punch lining positions and so on.
From this childhood experience, Derrick increased his body mechanics, strength, flexibility and awareness, which led to competitions, showcases, cyphers, and dance battles.

Ballistik Crew, Waikiki B-Boys, 808 Breakers and SoulShifters Crew is Derrick’s dance lineage.
His favorite part of B-Boying was training with the Boys, having fun, building each other up, becoming confident and supporting one another.
Doing this for decades, making him an OG of hip hop in the Pacific.

Derrick has taught Break Dancing professionally in both California and Hawaii.

Adding “House” dancing in the repertoire, Derrick crewed up with SoulShifters Crew, a Hip-Hop urban crew that specializes in improv, creativity, and art such as: making music, dancing (house), b-boying and graffiti.

Spending years working on body awareness through dance, Derrick naturally fell in love with Calisthenics and Yoga as well.

Coincidentally, beginning of 2016 Derrick’s first Zouk experience was an Island Zouk photoshoot with Kamacho. Shortly after that, he met Evelyn Magyari on a beach in Hawaii and “BOOM” (chick chick) the rest is history… Derrick’s wife Evelyn taught him the world of Zouk. Similarities of different dance forms have refreshed their dance experience, creativity and passion for movement. Derrick and Evelyn love to train, learn from others, build, create and link traditional movement with the new.

Melyssa Tamada and her dance partner Marck Silva are known worldwide together for their creativity, versatility and energy. They’re 2x Brazilian Zouk World Champions, 2022 and 2023. Coming from São Paulo, Brazil, they dance and teach Brazilian Zouk and Lambada, aiming to spread the happiness and love that these beautiful dances bring them.

The Force Majeur, Bruna Kazakevic, Sao Paulo’s “Teacher to the Stars!!!” and One of the most powerful female presences in Zouk today.

Artistic Trainer, Human Development Specialist, creator of the White Dragon method: "You are in life what you are in your art." Empowering Human Beings through the method. Liberating your inner artist and awakening your essence through art, theater, Brazilian Zouk, psychology, emotional intelligence, magic & spirituality.

Kazakevic’s magnetic presence captivates the dance floor, with world class skills in acting, singing, psychology, and energy healing. 

With more than 10 years of experience as a specialist in Brazilian Zouk and a leader on the scene, building the community in São Paulo - zouk polo, and influencing and mentoring big Zouk names including Marck & Melissa, Isamara, Otávio, Laura, Pedro & Cibele and many others. Making her one of the best Zouk teachers in Brazil. Her passionate contribution has been so respected and honoured, that now she is one of the directors of Brazilian Zouk Council and CNDD.

Bruna created the first graduation course of Brazilian Zouk & Lambada in São Paulo; it’s a hardcore school where dancers from all over the world come to study with Cia KazakeZouk since 2011. She has also won many competitions in São Paulo.

Bruna is a singer and actress and holds a degree in the performing arts.

Additionally, she is an emotional intelligence trainer, personal coach, energy therapist and is currently studying her newest passion, Psychology.

Born and raised in Hawaii, Merav Lomberg is a DJ and a dancer. Her love of travel and learning new styles of dance lead her to playing many hotspots in the Ecstatic Dance scene and eventually she discovered the world of Zouk! Merav regularly nourishes her insatiable love for creating unique dance journeys; She has been flourishing in the dance world playing at many sacred and iconic places.

DJ Merav picks you up and sets you in the groove captivating you with her delicious selections of style and depth, layering dance genres for a textured sound experience that enhances your embodiment. She lives for the moment and providing musical journeys for community to gather and celebrate life itself. Merav believes in dancing passionately, becoming mesmerized by music, and inviting fellow dancers deeper into the wonder of these moments.

Lena Love is your host and yoga teacher for this retreat. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Psychology and immersed in writing a dissertation on cosmological archetypes and their role in idenity, imaginal process, and inner transformation. She is passionate about reviving a felt connection in our culture to Mother Earth and our own innate divinity. She is the Founder of Sanctuary Retreats Hawaii, a retreat collective that is devoted to empowering women to find their authentic voice while reclaiming their sensual sovereignty as the embodiment of the divine feminine. Jacquelyn Otto is the master behind Honolulu Reiki. She is a revered master practitioner of White Light Reiki, Karuna Reiki®, and Usui Reiki, based in the serene surroundings of Honolulu, Hawaii. With over 13 years of practice, including 7 years as a Reiki Master, she has shared her wisdom with over 100 students, nurturing some into fellow Reiki masters. Be sure to arrive at Hale Akua on time for this magical, heart opening experience.

Jessica Chaves Melendez was born and raised in Costa Rica. She now lives on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Jessica grew up dancing Salsa, Cumbia, Merengue, Folklore, Swing and contemporary music. By the age of 6 she was following and leading; She is a natural in the realms of flow and movement. Jessica is the mother to three wonderful children, a girl and two boys, artists and surfers. For the past 10 + years, she had been consistently studying partner dance more in depth including all of the following styles: Salsa, Bachata, Cha cha, Zouk, and more. Jessica has traveling to Costa Rica, USA and all through the Hawaiian Islands to pursue her passion for dance. She currently teaches Brazilian Zouk & Salsa in Hilo since August 2023. “It has been such a joy and inspiration to share this art with everyone— community, friends, and family.” - says Jessica, a truly passionate dancer who is always learning and sharing her knowledge. Jessica will be at the retreat to assist beginners and answer any questions you may have.  

Julie Checknita combines her understanding of Ayurveda, Yoga Philosophy, and Holistic Healing through food, to create flavorful meals that are nourishing to the mind, body and soul. Using as many locally sourced ingredients as possible, she loves getting creative, fusing her favorite styles of cuisine to create beautifully balanced plates. Seeing food as both medicine and art, Julie treats her time in the kitchen as a therapeutic experience, focusing on trying to be present and connected with each step of the cooking experience. She has also been known to sing mantra as she cooks, infusing her culinary creations with loving energy - so don’t be alarmed if you catch her chanting or dancing. 

Kaio Cardoza was botn and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii and has lived in Maui for over a decade. Kaio has been surfing his whole life and teaches lessons to those who want to learn to ride the waves. He loves dancing, flow arts and especially acro yoga. Most of the time you can find him in the gym working on his fitness, adventuring with his 5 year old daughter Kailena, or catching the sunset. Kaio is a native Hawaiian and trained Lomi Lomi massage therapist. His treatments are powerfully healing.
